There are some people that are completely against students owning pets in the college environment, no matter what the circumstances.
Some people feel that regardless of who the owner is, the mere fact that the animal is being raised in a college atmosphere will cause problems for it.
Doug Roth is a 21-year-old senior at Michigan State University and is against students owning pets in college because of things he has seen during his own experiences in college. He does have some friends however, who have pets at MSU. While Doug said it didn't ruin their relationships, he did make his feelings clear to his friends, before they purchased their pets. One of his friends owns a Persian cat named Bojan after a famous soccer player.
. Another one of Doug's friends owns a Pit bull named Max.
Doug didn't always feel this way, at one point he was thinking of getting a dog. His opinions changed, however, from things he has seen. He said he said has seen his friends who have pets have people over, and neglect their pets.
